Well, well, well, hello there. Hope everything is froody with you guys and gals. Things are churning along quite nicely here. Been busy with this and that and a coupl’a those. Currently reading a book that just will not end no matter how much I groan. It’s a good book and all (or rather 6 in 1), but 800 pages is a bit of a haul, especially for British humor. Oh, the book is The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, by the way, and I’m ever so close to finishing it, but I think I’ve lost too much enthusiasm for it to be anything more than a simple accomplishment. I mean, I’ve already forgotten what the first segment was about. It’s still entertaining to a degree, but it has certainly lost every bit of jazz it had during the 1st 400 pages. Continue »
You ever have one of those days where something in particular surfaces over and over again? The other night, I was watching an old episode of Andy Griffith and a relatively young Don Rickles portrayed a ‘misguided’ con-man. Nothin’ much to that, but upon flipping channels, not 10 minutes later, I happened upon the tail-end of the Bernie Mac show and guess who else was there. Yep, ol’ Don. Strange, but that occurs fairly often. Well, about 20 minutes later, I surfed out Jay Leno’s way and I’ll be damned if Don Rickles wasn’t sitting in that guest chair! Now, how does that happen?! once again, our illustrious government is embarking on yet another redesign of the dollar. this time, we’re commemorating presidents, with consecutive pieces arriving every three months. it seems like only yesterday (or rather 8 years ago) we were inundated with the ol’ Sacagawea coin, the first golden dollar coin, which no one liked. before that, in 1979, we had the Susan B. Anthony, which no one liked; before that, in 1971, the oversized eisenhower dollar, which no one liked but i had collected a few. Continue »
