Here’s the newest single from the McGrew Archive. It’s actually the very first full collaboration for Adam and myself which we’ll file under the moniker Faust Dupree. Wanna know how it came together? ‘K, Adam approached me with some new lyrics he’d scribbled down but had no tune to go with it. So I sat down with him and came up with a simple, yet stable rhythm which he liked a lot. From there we hammered out the structure of the song (the verse-chorus-verse) and I helped him rewrite some of the lyrics to fit. Next stop was recording and I wanted it to be predominately Adam at the mic since it’s basically his song. It was a bit rough starting off with him trying to sing along to my guitar playing, so I forced him to learn the guitar parts himself so that he’d get the tune in his head better. Once that was accomplished we had to develop his singing style for the song, which took about a dozen different takes. We finally decided on the more intimate approach that’s represented here. After that, we laid down a handful of different lead guitar tracks to help flesh out the tone of the song. Then I took on the production task of putting it all together; adjusting levels and chopping his lead guitar tracks and building a nice flowing solo. At the end of everything, I threw in some shakers to round it all out. And there you have it… a new song! Hope you guys enjoy it.
More as it comes…

You’re probably using a browser that’s being fussy. It works perfectly in Firefox. Sorry.
