SPLENDID! Following up on the adventure to find Jason’s two sons, we’re now taken deeper into Ghostworld, or the phantom realm as i like to think of it. here, both reality and time are warped in a fashion that one would have to take special care not to lose one’s sanity. the whole idea of time-shifting is a tough one, but Holdstock gives a nice attempt. Set 700 years from their natural existence, each brother is accompanied by the ‘ghost’ of their sibling; an act done by their mother (Medea) who is an eternal walker like Merlin. the reasons for this action root in betrayal by Jason. But this isn’t all that is going on in the ancient world, oh no. apparently, the denizens of ghostworld have a particular grudge against the living and decide to act upon it by means of warfare. keeping in mind, ghostworld is hosted by the ancestors of the living, this causes much confusion amongst the ‘present’ dwellers. only by traveling the twists and turns of the rivers in the ancient ship, argo, do our companions make the journey to find the logic behind the great episode of the iron grail.
